This portrait was done ONLY in Adobe Illustrator CS4. I had done so far for some Photo realistic portrait illustration especially to Korean Actresses. This time I decided to draw Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s portrait. Original idea is for a present for my younger brother Myo Kyaw Htun”s birthday. But it took so long because of other commercial design projects and I couldn’t concentrate to finish it for his birthday.
It is NOT easy to do Photo Realistic Portrait in Adobe Illustrator. Even people can say “it’s just a copy” .. Yes .. a copy but it’s not that easy.
Then, I looked around some of her photos from Google search. There are variety of photos but I think this one is unique because of her smiles. Then I was curious for who belonged to that photo. I mean a company or a photographer. I found a Photographer name “Thierry Falise” as a credit in some photos. I did search his name and found his contacts. He is well known photographer because of his works in Southeast Asia region. Fortunately, he is living in Bangkok. I called to him for his permission. I explained what I wanted to do for it. I emailed him with my previous portraits to make him impressed for my works. Finally, he gave me a permission.
I took more than a month now to finish it. Anyway, this is the day to show off what I have done for my portfolios.
Hence, I don’t want to mention how much I inspire for Aung San Suu Kyi because I think no need to explain about her because almost everyone on earth knows about her.
